As you meander down the streets of Kirkwood, this little square is cradled between Memorial Drive and the train tracks that lead to Decatur, you’ll come across Taproom Coffee. This neighborhood mingling space boasts wonderfully brewed coffee and kraft beer for young creatives and entrepreneurs who share long tables to stay inspired during the daily grind. I could go on and on, but I’ll let you experience the charm yourself. Just know to expect a really great background playlist and to run into some wonderful people.

Counter Culture Coffee ground, brewed, and poured by the Taproom baristas, a classy bunch of folks.
The creators of Taproom wanted a community hub with great coffee and beer. They do their best to curate just that.
Taproom works with Ratio Bakeshop, locally run in Decatur, to provide that sweet to their savory, including some gluten free options.
Know Before You Go
Taproom can be a great place to meet others doing creative work. They also like to do community events to encourage fostering local relationships. You can read their ramblings about the goings on here. You’ll need to park on the street, so get ready to practice a little of your creativity, though a lot of people walk and bike as well. And, if you’re struggling to find the outlet to keep your mac running on those long writing days, they are hidden nicely under the long table.
Pourover, or if I’m there early, the brew for the day with the complimentary refill. And, I’ll probably snag a muffin for munching.
